Lwcus T is proud to present Crio Tu Mewn, the first single from an ambitious project by Sywel Nyw.

Sywel Nyw is the solo project of musician and producer Lewys Wyn. Throughout 2021, he will be collaborating and producing original tracks with twelve exciting artists, from across Wales, in order to release a brand new single, every month of the year.

2020 was a year to forget, a year of social isolation. Although the songs are composed and produced remotely, this is an anthemic sound for a time of reunification and reconnection.

Lewys said: "Everyone I've worked with on this project has their own attitude towards music and songwriting. By combining this with my sound I hope we can create a special and fascinating piece of work. The composers have a unique relationship with Welsh culture and a unique way of expressing themselves. "

Crio Tu Mewn, the first single in the series, was composed by Mark Roberts, one of the most prominent composers of his time and someone who was a major influence on Lewys from an early age.

As part of Y Cyrff, Catatonia, Y Ffyrc, The Earth or more recently under the name MR, Mark is responsible for a wealth of contemporary classics. In Crio Tu Mewn we get a short story about an unexpected dream.

Mark said: "When I heard the synths and the drum machine playing the dreamy patterns that Lewys had recorded, I knew what I wanted to do. I felt the chords sounded nostalgic, but in a fairly mechanical way. So I decided to write about something human: the romance of love and loss. "

Ellie Yvonne Owen, a young artist from Bangor, is responsible for the artwork and Celt Iwan for the setting.

Crio Tu Mewn will be released on the 29th of January, on streaming platforms with the songs being released as a whole on 12” vinyl at the end of 2021 via Lwus-T.
